The West Africa Climate Change and Water Forum.
The effects of climate change have already impacted Lake Chad, one of West Africa’s largest freshwater lakes. Like Lake Chad, several other lakes in the ECOWAS region such as those within the Volta, Senegal, Niger, and Oguta are equally facing diminishing watersheds and water quality, and require urgent restoration efforts to ensure sustained drinking water sources and economic growth for the adjoining communities. At the end of the forum, a climate change response platform for the ECOWAS region will be generated.
